I absolutely LOVE this time of year. The time from Thanksgiving, leading up to Christmas is always so exciting and busy. No matter how old I am, I always revert to being a kid during this time. I just get so excited, starting with Black Friday! I started shopping on Black Friday a few years ago, and I absolutely love it. The hustle and bustle of trying to find Christmas presents for everyone is just so much fun for me. My good friend Jan got to my house at about 5am and we shopped hard until about 1:00pm.
No matter how much fun I have getting presents for everyone, I always get stressed out. I want to give people the PERFECT gift for that person. I take time and try to find something that they will actually use, or wear, or just love. I really try to put forth a great amount of effort in each present I buy, and eventually wrap. Everyone who knows me knows that I am a LITTLE obsessive compulsive. I try to wrap each and every present perfectly... straight cutting, straight lines. And if the pattern happens to line up just right, well, that just about does it for me. I am the happiest girl in the world.
Brad and I got straight to work cleaning and decorating the house on Thanksgiving Day. We put up all the decorations for the inside of the house. After I finished shopping on Black Friday, we put up the Christmas tree. On Saturday, we put up the lights on the outside of the house. I also wrapped most of the presents and took all the ones for Brad's family to his grandparents house that night to put under their tree.
I am in the middle of a little crisis. I have bought Brad a couple of things for Christmas, but I don't want to give him everything off of his list, because I want to give him some surprises. However, all of my bright ideas have gone right out the window. First, I was going to give him a Gators pullover that he wanted, however, every place is out of stock of the item, or they are out of his size. Then, I was going to get him a camcorder from Target on Black Friday, but they sold out. Then, I was going to get a Derrick Rose autographed Tiger jersey on Ebay, but it got out of my range. So now, I am at a loss for him. I am hoping that SOMETHING brilliant comes to me soon.
I am extra excited this year, because not only are we newlyweds, and this is our first Christmas as a married couple, and I get to host Christmas dinner for my family. I am so excited about this opportunity. I just love entertaining, and this is such a great day to get to entertain and have family over. I cannot wait until Christmas is here!
