Many people get into teaching to help enrich the lives of children, or to help teach the children who will be the leaders in years to come, or for some other rewarding reason. Me? I got into teaching for SNOW DAYS!!! I love snow days!! The excitement leading up to a day like today is so much fun. As I've gotten older, I have become a little jaded as far as these days go. Since weather has a mind of its own, I have come to not get TOO excited about snow, until it actually starts falling. And when it does, I never want it to stop.
For those of you who know me, you know I absolutely hate cold weather. However, I love snow. My reasoning is that if its going to be cold (and cold for me, here in the south) is anything below 40 degrees) then it needs to snow. I know I somewhat contradict myself in this statement, but its the way I feel.
Snow days just have a special feeling about them. I guess since it wasn't a planned holiday, and you really aren't sick, then it just feels like you are skipping school. I spent my snow day in bed with Polo until about 9:30, then got up and tried to take him outside to see the snow. He was a little scared to go out into the yard, but once he got out there, he had a blast. At about 11, I went to my friend Jan's house with her daughter Adyson, and then went to a late lunch with a coworker. After that, I went to Physical Therapy for my back and to Lowes. It's been a little bit of a busy day, but it's been really fun.
I know that I should feel lucky to have gotten out today, but I am hoping to get out tomorrow too!! (Even though there isn't anything showing up on the radar). Below are a couple of pictures of Polo out in the snow.
